Leading national online retail destination is now offering the first-ever hybrid personalized television service
SEZMI’S COMPLETE AND AFFORDABLE CABLE AND SATELLITE TV REPLACEMENT NOW AVAILABLE ON AMAZON.
BELMONT, Calif. (Sept. 8, 2010)
– Sezmi today announced its all-in-one personalized
television service is immediately available to viewers in 36 markets across the U.S. through Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN).
Ideal for people fed up with the increasing cost of cable and satellite TV, and those eager to take full advantage of a
personalized user experience with next generation TV features, Sezmi provides consumers with greater control over how they
purchase and view content via a unique and personal television viewing experience. Sezmi elegantly combines live
television with on-demand movies, television shows, web videos and an HD DVR capable of automatically recording and
recommending shows for each member of the family. Sezmi is the only complete replacement for the ever increasing number of
people who are anxious to sever ties with their expensive television service providers.
Amazon is the second major retailer to offer the Sezmi Personal TV Service, following on the success of Sezmi's initial
partnership with Best Buy. Interested consumers can determine if their home is within Sezmi's service coverage area at
www.sezmi.com, and can now purchase the hardware at www.amazon.com.
"We are at an inflection point for the TV industry; viewers are changing their beha vior with an increased eagerness to cut ties to cable or satellite and go for a cheaper alternative. However, most still haven't done so as there hasn't been a viable and accessible alternative," said Phil Wiser, co-founder and president of Sezmi. "With the increasing consumer desire for innovative, personalized and cost effective alternatives like Sezmi, our partnership with Amazon will make it easier for consumers to finally cut the cord."
The Sezmi personalized television system costs $149.99 and includes a one-terabyte HD Media Recorder that automatically organizes live, recorded, on-demand and online content, along with the industry-leading indoor television reception system for receiving local HD broadcast channels and cable channels. The monthly subscription service comes in two tiers, the first of which is Sezmi Select for $4.99 per month. Sezmi Select customers receive HD DVR capabilities, live local broadcast channels, an ever-growing on-demand store that features thousands of free and pay-as-you-go movies and shows, and access to rich Internet content such as YouTube™ and video podcasts, along with the personalized user interfaces for each member of the household. The second tier, Sezmi Select Plus, is priced at $19.99 per month and includes everything in the Select package, with the addition of a tremendous content lineup of live and on-demand cable channels from the most watched cable networks.
The Select offering is currently available in 36 metro markets, and the complete list can be found at www.sezmi.com. The Select Plus offering is currently only available in the Los Angeles market, with the cable offering scheduled to expand to additional markets later this year. Customers who qualify for the Sezmi service but are not located in Los Angeles can purchase the Select package now and easily upgrade once the cable offering becomes available in their market.
